"What makes you vulnerable is what makes you beautiful."

What you need to know about therapy
Beginning therapy can be in response to anything from experiencing a crisis, to not feeling a sense of purpose in one’s life. Taking the step to begin therapy may feel frightening or uncomfortable. It can feel odd to open up to a therapist and begin the process of exploring oneself. Taking these first steps to find a therapist is movement towards growth and a healthier way to experience life. My approach is to establish trust so that clients feel comfortable beginning the collaborative process of therapy. I establish a unique relationship with each client that is built upon the foundation of respect, confidentiality and warmth. Therapy can offer clients an opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings, to embrace oneself, to experience personal growth and the freedom that comes with living an authentic life.
The Clear Vision
In therapy, there is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of oneself. I provide a safe space for clients to express thoughts and feelings without judgment. Feeling truly seen, heard and accepted is a healing experience. There may be a desire to ignore the parts of ourselves that we deem least desirable. The process of therapy opens up space to connect and accept the parts of ourselves that we try to disown. This gives clients the opportunity to embrace the whole self, create a different relationship with themselves and others and experience personal growth.
The therapeutic process can support the development of self-compassion and vulnerability. Self-compassion is being kind and accepting of one’s humanness. When we resist acceptance, we can feel stuck in painful feelings such as shame, anger, sadness and unhappiness. Once we let ourselves feel the inevitable pain that comes along with being human, we can move through it and feel less stuck.
The ability to be vulnerable opens the door for connection and intimacy. Within a vulnerable space, one can be authentic and feel the joy that comes with a true sense of feeling connected and less alone in the world. Therapy is an opportunity to explore vulnerability and the benefits of embracing authenticity and openness.
